Every Texan is part of an ecosystem of advocacy organizations across Texas with a shared vision of a state where every Texan can thrive. We identify our policy priorities in direct collaboration with the communities most affected by policies enacted by the Legislature.

Every Texan collaborates with community partners, alongside people of low income and communities of color, to shift power and leadership to those most impacted by policy failures. In Texas, policy decisions disproportionately affect communities of color and low-income residents. That’s why we make sure those people are brought into the core of our mission. We believe that Texans of all races, genders, and backgrounds have the power to improve our daily lives and conditions.

Our team supports advocates from across the state by providing them with the support they need to:

  • Communicate their lived experiences and contextualize their stories to claim the narratives shaping Texas.
  • Connect to other advocates and stakeholders who are committed to shaping a stronger state for all.
  • Travel the road to policy change- influencing and compelling policymakers with sound data to back their lived experiences.

At Every Texan, we use data and analysis to advocate for bold, research-driven legislative priorities that expand opportunity for Texans of all backgrounds. We are a trusted source of information for organizations, leaders, and everyday Texans advocating for public policy and racial equity at the Legislature. Here are a few ways for you to engage in the legislative process!

Current Campaigns

We work in a statewide network of 50+ partners across our policy areas – health care, education, budget and taxes, food security, worker power, immigration, local control, and voting rights. Ahead of the 89th Legislative Session, Every Texan completed a listening tour across Texas, engaging more than 8,000 Texans to learn about their state budget priorities. We learned that affordable and accessible healthcare, high-quality public education, economic opportunities, and jobs that offer fair and increased wages are the top priorities for Texans. 

Equipped with this information, Every Texan crafted a people-informed policy agenda for the 89th Session, powered by research and data, trusted relationships with policy makers, and policy expertise spanning 40+ years. From neighborhoods to the Capitol, the People’s Budget continues to build a bridge with data and a deeper understanding of communities across the state.

Texas Counts is a statewide collaborative effort working to leverage, amplify and share resources across communities and sectors to ensure that every Texan is counted in the 2030 Census.
The Drive Texas Adelante campaign seeks to advance a conditional driver’s permit for undocumented Texans and other communities who have difficulties accessing a driver’s license due to the existing cumbersome eligibility requirements.
We are a team of community organizations in Texas who want to make sure families know their rights and can make the best decisions about using public programs.
