Every Texan, which for more than 40 years has promoted non-partisan public policy that serves all Texans, released the following statement about the results of the Tuesday, Nov. 3 General Election in Texas:
The voters in Texas have spoken. Now it’s time to govern. Rising costs and affordability played center stage over the politics of fear. Every Texan is ready to advance a state agenda that invests in public education, makes healthcare and food more accessible, and ends unfair tax policies.
We need a budget that is transparent about how the state spends our money and for whom—and prioritizes people over corporate tax breaks. It means strengthening economic security and worker power, giving local governments authority to meet their local needs. We need to seize this once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect our democratic values.
Every Texan will release its Policy Roadmap for a Texas Where Everyone Thrives in the weeks to come. We have produced data-driven policy analysis and recommendations aimed at expanding opportunity for all Texans during every Legislative session for the past 40 years. The 90th Texas Legislature begins January 12, 2027, and we stand ready to build on decades of work advancing policies that strengthen Texans’ health, education, food access, and economic security.
About Every Texan
Since its founding in 1985, Every Texan (formerly the Center for Public Policy Priorities) has leveraged public policy to expand opportunity and equity for Texans of all backgrounds. For 40 years, Every Texan has been driven by a simple but profound belief: our state possesses the resources for everyone to thrive, yet too many neighbors are blocked from the conditions—quality schools, healthcare, and economic security—necessary to prosper. Because everyday Texans do not have high-priced lobbyists, we serve as their advocates. We demystify complex systems, providing the data and tools necessary to connect people to the levers of power.
