The Center for Public Policy Priorities is proud to honor Bill White as our 2017 Texas Legacy.
Throughout his distinguished career, including as Mayor of Houston and U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy, White has focused on results over rhetoric, and common sense solutions over ideology. His can-do attitude has brought valuable community projects in Houston to fruition, enabled him to tactfully react to crises, and earned him enduring admiration from all who have worked with him along the way. White joins a distinguished line of men and women who have committed their lives and careers to improving Texas through public policy and public service.
We invite you to help us celebrate White’s contributions to Texas at our annual Legacy Luncheon! The Legacy Luncheon will bring together leaders from across Texas to reflect on Bill White’s remarkable legacy while raising funds to support CPPP’s important work. The luncheon will take place on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 at the JW Marriott in downtown Austin from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Civil rights activist Vernon Jordan will deliver a powerful keynote address.
And MALDEF Staff Attorney Celina Moreno will receive our Future of Texas Award, honoring a visionary young leader in Texas who is working hard to ensure the best Texas for future generations.
