Remembering Deacon Joe Rubio

CPPP mourns the passing of Deacon Joe Rubio on May 21, 2017. As an original member of the CPPP Board of Directors, Deacon Joe Rubio played an instrumental role in the development of the organization in a variety of roles over the years of his service, including board chair.

“Deacon Joe Rubio was a dear friend whose support was important to me during my time as executive director,” said former CPPP Executive Director Scott McCown. “He was also a wise board chair who kept CPPP connected to our roots in faith and focused on our mission to improve the lives of the poor. His commitment to our mission was unwavering. Joe truly cared about others and practiced what he preached. We will miss him.”

“He exemplified the qualities of integrity, decency, empathy and steady advocacy,” said former CPPP Board Chair John Hildreth. “Though blessed with a quiet, gentle demeanor, Deacon Joe possessed a steely devotion to uplifting the lives of the poor and a savvy understanding for how that devotion could be realized in public policy. He was a man of rare grace and positive humor, enriching all who crossed his path.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Deacon Joe’s friends and family.
