CultureMapATX, an online magazine about all things life and culture in Austin, featured our documentary “A Fighting Chance” in anticipation of tonight’s KLRU Civic Summit, which will air on the Austin PBS station starting at 8 p.m. Tune in watch as we tell the stories of five Texas families working to make ends meet. Immediately following the 30-minute piece, the Civic Summit: What It Really Takes Texas Families panel discussion will address what Texas families need to overcome unexpected financial hardship and get back on their feet. Today on The Austin Chronicle website, Richard Whittaker reports on the upcoming budget writing process. Lawmakers made some significant budget cuts last session to things Texas families need and rely on, including education and health care. As Eva points out in the story, this session lawmakers have an opportunity to restore that money and plan for Texas’ future. You can read the full story here.
