Born and raised in the Chihuahuan Desert border region that weaves the United States and Mexico together, Xochitl is a proud graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso. As Director of Communications, Xochitl drives Every Texan’s mission through collaborative storytelling that is rooted in community and the experienced impact of public policy on Texans. With singular experience as a trans-disciplinary artist, organizer, policy researcher, fundraiser, and program developer, she is committed to mission-driven work that moves society toward equity and underscores the essential stewardship of a healthy world. Xochitl was the first visiting artist in residence to live and teach in the Kingdom of Bhutan and brings 15 years of experience weaving stories across pervasive and perceived. She led the first Women’s March on the Border in 2017, then worked at the nexus of community engagement and public policy with Texas House District 77 and Senate District 29, and became an Interchange Fellow with the Mid America Arts Alliance in 2021. As a mother, her devotion to building a just society is deepened by her commitment to ensuring future generations can inherit a world that encourages and nurtures their power. Xochitl spends her personal time paddling, hiking, and swimming in rugged and remote places with her daughter, doggos, and their beautiful village.
